Privacy Policy for ShouldI
Effective date: September 15, 2026
Beach Avenue Media Inc. ("ShouldI," "we," "us") operates the ShouldI mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
- Anonymous account identifier. ShouldI uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication by default. We do not require your name, email address, or a password to use the App.
- Optional account recovery (Sign in with Apple / Sign in with Google). You may optionally link your anonymous account to Sign in with Apple (iOS) or Sign in with Google (Android) so your ShouldI history survives a lost or replaced phone. Completing that link may briefly share your name and/or email address with us as part of Apple's or Google's standard sign-in process, but we do not store, display, or otherwise use that name or email anywhere in the App — we only record that your account has been linked to that provider.
- Decision content. When you post a decision, we store the title, context, and any emotion tags you add, along with your votes on other users' decisions.
- Age bracket (optional). You may optionally select a broad age bracket (e.g., 18–24, 25–34). This is used only for aggregated, non-identifying reporting and is not tied to your identity.
- AI Insight worksheet (ShouldI Plus subscribers only). If you subscribe to ShouldI Plus and use the AI Insight feature, your worksheet answers are sent to our backend, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude API solely to generate your personalized report. We do not use this content for any other purpose.
- Decision Companion conversations. If you use the Decision Companion chat feature, the messages you send are sent to our backend, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude API solely to generate the Companion's replies and to help build your personal Context (below). This applies whether or not you are a ShouldI Plus subscriber — a limited number of conversations are included free each month, with a larger allotment for Plus subscribers.
- Personal Context ("What ShouldI Knows About Me"). You may add short notes about yourself that ShouldI uses to make future recommendations more relevant, either directly or as suggested by a Decision Companion conversation. You can view, edit, deactivate, or delete any of these notes at any time in the App. As of this policy's effective date, this information is not sent to Anthropic or any other third party.
- Final Choice. You may privately record what you actually decided for any decision you post. This is separate from the public community vote, is never shown to other users, and is never sent to Anthropic or any other third party.
- Subscription/purchase information. If you subscribe to ShouldI Plus, your purchase is processed by Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple's App Store (iOS). We receive only a purchase token from Google or a signed transaction from Apple, which we use to verify your entitlement to ShouldI Plus. We never see or store your payment card details.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information above to operate the App's core features: displaying decisions and votes, running Decision Companion conversations, generating AI Insight reports for Plus subscribers, personalizing the App using your Context notes, and verifying subscription status.
3. Data Sharing
We share data with:
- Google (Firebase) — our infrastructure provider for authentication, database storage, and app security checks (Play Integrity / App Check).
- Anthropic — your AI Insight worksheet answers (ShouldI Plus subscribers only) and your Decision Companion conversation messages (all users), solely to generate your report or the Companion's replies.
We do not sell your data. We do not share data with advertisers, and the App does not display ads.
4. Data Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and your private data at any time from the App's Profile tab ("Delete Account"). This removes your Personal Context, Decision Companion conversations, Final Choices, votes, and saved AI Insight reports, and deletes your account itself. Decisions you have created remain visible to the community (so votes already cast by other users stay meaningful) but are no longer linked to your account. If you'd rather not use the in-app option, you can also email us at info@beachavemedia.com and we will process your request.
5. Children
ShouldI is intended for users 18 and older. The App's age bracket options do not include anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
6. Security
We use industry-standard practices, including Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity, to help protect the App and its data from abuse.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date above.
8. Contact Us
